MuST (Multi-Sector Skills Training)
The Multi-Sector Skills Training (MuST) Programme is an apprenticeship-based skills training programme which provides trainees with opportunities to enhance their capacities in the areas of Hospitality and Tourism, and Construction. Trainees spend four days per week in industry practising their chosen trades and one day in MIC-IT’s Technology Centres to supplement their practical experience with instructor-led learning. Trainees are provided with a stipend while they learn to assist in promoting success and completion of the programme.
Hospitality & Tourism
Hospitality and Tourism training offers four Occupational Skills Area options for this intake. Applicants can only apply for one skill.
Laventille Technology Centre:
- Commercial Food Preparation
- General Office Administration
- Food and Beverage Services – TTNVQ Level I
O’Meara Technology Centre:
- Commercial Food Preparation
- General Office Administration
- Food and Beverage Services – TTNVQ Level I
Penal Technology Centre:
- General Office Administration
Tobago Technology Centre:
- Commercial Food Preparation
- Food and Beverage Services – TTNVQ Level I
Course Duration: Six (6) months – Full time
The Ministry of Education provides each registered Hospitality and Tourism MuST Trainee with the following:
- Stipend of 80 TTD per working day
- Basic Personal Protective Equipment
- Insurance Coverage
- Must be a National/Resident of Trinidad and Tobago
- Must be between the ages of 17-50 years
- Copy of Electronic Birth Certificate
- Copy of Photo ID
- Passport-size photo
- Utility Bill
- Bank Account
- NIS number (if available)
- Application Fee: 30 TTD (non-refundable)
- Registration Fee: 100 TTD (non-refundable)
- Programme Fee: Government Funded (Free for Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago)
Certification upon successful completion:
• Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) Level I
OR
• Trinidad & Tobago National Vocational Qualification (TTNVQ) Level I upon completion of Food and Beverage
Crop Production
Within this option, trainees will be taught the cultural practices involved in cultivating at least one crop from the following crop types: root and tubers, condiments, pulses and grains and vegetable crops.
• Production systems
• Irrigation systems
• Farm equipment and machinery
• Preparation of land for cultivation
• Crop cultivation
• Plant propagation
• Harvest and post-harvest activities
• Marketing produce
• Communicating with stakeholders
• Budget and Financing
• Practicing HSE
Course Duration: Nine months (36 weeks), Full-Time

Tobago Technology Centre – 143 Milford Road, Canaan
The Ministry of Education provides each registered Crop Production MuST Trainee with the following:
- Basic Personal Protective Equipment
- Insurance Coverage
- Stipend of 100 TTD per working day
- Must be an unemployed National/Resident of Trinidad and Tobago
- Must be between the ages of 17-50 years
- Copy of Electronic Birth Certificate
- Copy of Photo ID
- Passport-size photo
- Utility Bill
- Bank Account
- NIS number (if available)
- Application Fee: 30 TTD (non-refundable)
- Registration Fee: 100 TTD (non-refundable)
- Programme Fee: Government Funded (Free for Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago)

Course Duration: Nine (9) months, Full-Time
The Ministry of Education provides each registered Construction MuST Trainee with the following:
- Basic Personal Protective Equipment
- Insurance Coverage
- Stipend of 100 TTD per working day
- Completion of a Level I Construction Programme or Eighteen (18) months of experience in a relevant skill area is preferred
- Must be a National/Resident of Trinidad and Tobago
- Must be between the ages of 17-50 years
- Copy of Electronic Birth Certificate
- Copy of Photo ID
